Artist Series and Jazz Series Collection

Scope and Contents This collection consists primarily of season announcements and programs for the Lawrence University Conservatory of Music Artist Series and Jazz Series, annual series of concerts featuring outside artists, from 1908 to the present. Some photographs are also included.

Carl Waterman Collection

Scope and Contents This collection consists of materials relating to Carl Waterman, Conservatory of Music faculty member from 1910 to 1953 and Dean of the Conservatory from 1920 to 1949. Materials include articles and biographical information, correspondence relating to a retirement gift for Waterman, and photographs.

Scope and Contents This collection consists of subject files documenting departments, ensembles, events, and general history of the Conservatory of Music at Lawrence University, dating from 1868 to the present. Materials primarily include newspaper clippings, photographs, programs, and brochures.

Conservatory Scrapbooks

Scope and Contents The three scrapbooks in this collection contain programs from Conservatory concerts and recitals, bulletins listing enrollment and course information, and newspaper clippings. Materials are presented in chronological order and date from 1921 to 1935.

Scope and Contents This collection contains newspaper clippings and magazine articles highlighting Schroeder's musical career, personal correspondence, biographical materials, and photographs. Schroeder served as the Director of Bands at Lawrence University from 1951 to 1978.

James Ming Collection

Scope and Contents This collection contains annual reports, concert programs, correspondence, newpaper clippings, materials documenting Ming's teaching and education experiences in Europe, information about his retirement, and photographs. Ming taught piano and composition at Lawrence University from 1944 to 1971.

Music-Drama Center Collection

Scope and Contents This collection is comprised of materials documenting the history of the Music-Drama Center, the home of the Conservatory of Music and Theatre department that was built in 1959. The collection includes correspondence, building plans, articles about the building, and photographs. Materials on Harper Hall, Cloak and Stansbury Theatres, and Waterman Library are also included.

William Harper Papers

Scope and Contents This collection consists of assorted papers created by William E. Harper, Dean of the Lawrence College Conservatory of Music from 1908 to 1913, as well as articles and biographical information about him. Papers include leases, a contract, and a scrapbook containing newspaper reviews of Harper's vocal performances.
