Lawrence College Scrapbooks

Scope and Contents The four scrapbooks in this collection contain programs from Lawrence University commencements, exhibitions, literary society events, recitals, concerts, theatre productions, and other celebrations and activities, dating from 1847 to 1947. Some newspaper clippings and ephemera are also included.

May Day Collection

Scope and Contents This collection is comprised of records documenting the celebration of May Day, a spring tradition at Lawrence from 1906 to 1966 and revived for one year in 2007. May Day celebrations typically involved the crowning of one of the senior women as May Queen and dancing around a May Pole. Parades, folk dancing, and other events were also incorporated in some years. Photographs, programs, and articles make up the bulk of the collection.
