Scope and Contents Contains an introduction written by William F. Raney circa 1959, in addition to the transcribed letters, in which he states: "After his death in 1886, [Lawrence's] heirs transferred to Lawrence University, as the college was then called, a considerable body of papers relating to his interests in Wisconsin. Most of them were concerned with his investments in land and kindred matters. Among these business papers, however, were a few letters and documents in which he revealed, all too briefly,...
