President Curtis Tarr appointed the committee in 1968 and charged it with investigating the whole structure of the university and making recommendations for change to the faculty. The work of the committee was supported by a grant from the Carnegie Corporation. Records consist of meeting minutes, correspondence, and reports (including what became known as the Troyer Report, named for the committee chair, Howard Troyer.)
