Irene Luethge Papers
This collection consists primarily of a scrapbook which documents Luethge’s time as a student at Lawrence College, the University of Pennsylvania at Philadelphia, and the University of Wisconsin- Madison. Luethge attended Lawrence from 1935 to 1937. Other photographs of family and friends are also included. In addition to the scrapbook, the collection contains photographs and other materials from the Lawrence Class of 1939 40th and 60th reunions, in 1979 and 1999.

Biographical or Historical Information
Irene Luethge was born in Sheboygan, Wisconsin in 1917. She graduated from Sheboygan High School in 1935. She attended Lawrence University from 1935 to 1937 and graduated from the University of Pennsylvania at Philadelphia with a B.A. degree in sociology in 1939 and a Masters in social work in 1943. She also worked toward a PhD degree there. She held social work and administrative positions in Philadelphia, PA, Providence, RI, Richmond, VA, New Hampshire and Cambridge, MA. She had faculty teaching positions at Lakeland College, and Universities in VA, NC, and MA, lastly at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, and was also a consultant with the Wisconsin State Division of Health. Luethge passed away in 2010.
