Crew became a popular sport for Milwaukee-Downer students beginning in 1895 when a shell was purchased from Fox Lake. Crew races were held in the Milwaukee River until the school consolidated with Lawrence University in 1964. The crew team pictured was one of the last Milwaukee-Downer College crew teams.
