  • circa 1951-1963

Summary Note

Lantern night was one of the traditions that took place during the Christmas season. Beginning in the 1940s, students lit candles inside lanterns at night and visited local orphanages, hospitals, and retirement homes and sang Christmas carols. Students would then return to the college and enjoy cocoa. The students pictured here serenade the president of Milwaukee-Downer College John Johnson and his family at his home.
