The Memorial gate outside of Whiting Field was dedicated on Memorial Day, May 31, 1930. The plaque lists the names of Lawrentians who were killed in the Civil War, the Spanish American War, and World War I. The second plaque was added later and lists the Lawrentians who were killed in World War II.
