Biographical or Historical Information
The United States War Department established the Student Army Training Corps (S.A.T.C.) program following the U.S. entry into World War I. Somewhere between 300 and 400 colleges nation-wide hosted S.A.T.C. units. An S.A.T.C. unit was established at Lawrence in the fall of 1918. It brought 400 men to campus and enabled the college to stay financially afloat.
