Roy Wilhelm Edward Hupe's Scrapbook contains dance cards, publications by the Lawrence College Delta Iota fraternity chapter, ephemera such as a spoon and wishbone, Lawrence College handbooks, menus, newspaper clippings, programs from events at Lawrence College and from Ft. Sheridan, photographs from his time spent at Lawrence University, in the Army, and in Idaho, and ticket stubs. Hupe attended Lawrence College from 1914-1917.

Biographical or Historical Information

According to the biographical sketch written by the donor, Roy Hupe joined the Army Officer's Training Corps in 1917. He received an honorable discharge in 1919, and decided to head west. He ended up in Idaho, and with the help of his brothers and neighbors built a log cabin. He returned to Wisconsin, and married his Lawrence College sweetheart, Blanche Edna Knapp, who graduated in 1919, on June 5, 1920. They returned to Idaho and their son Russell was born on August 16, 1921. Roy Wilhelm Edward Hupe died on May 2, 1922 while blasting tree stumps to clear the land near the cabin.
