Biographical or Historical Information

Dr. Longley joined Lawrence University's Department of Government in 1965. The Fulbright Commission recognized his scholarly contributions and awarded him the John Marshall Chair of American Politics at the Budapest University of Economic Sciences in Hungary from 1994-1995. In 2000, the Fulbright Commission appointed him the Thomas Jefferson Chair in American Politics at Katholieke Universitat Nijmegen in the Netherlands. Longley died on March 20, 2002.

Method of Acquisition

The source, date, and method of acquisition for more materials in the collection are unknown. "Working Papers on Comparative Legislative Studies" volumes I-IV transferred to the Archives from Government department faculty, 2018.
