Biographical or Historical Information

The University established a Chinese language program in 1989, funded by a grant from the Mellon Foundation. The East Asian Languages and Cultures Program was established shortly thereafter. In 2005, the program split into two, creating the East Asian Studies Program and the Department of Chinese and Japanese.

Method of Acquisition

The bulk of the records in this collection were created/collected by Jane Parish Yang and transferred to the Archives by Jessica Hoyer '18, 2016-01-08.
