Biographical or Historical Information
The Wriston Art Center was built in 1987-1989 and dedicated on May 5, 1989. The building was named in honor of Henry and Ruth Wriston. Henry served as Lawrence president from 1925-1937, and he and his wife Ruth actively worked to build the college's art collection. The Wriston Art Center is three times larger than the building it replaced, the Worcester Art Center.
