This collection includes records created by the Dean of Men, Dean of Women, and Dean of Students at Lawrence University. Records date from 1926 to 2005 and include correspondence, memoranda, and reports pertaining to the administration of student affairs. Minutes of the Deans' staff meetings from 1966 to 1976 are also included.

Biographical or Historical Information

Lawrence included a Dean of Women among its administrative officers as early as the 1910s. The position of Dean of Men was established in 1942. In 1969, the Dean of Students position was created, first held by Chuck Lauter. The Dean of Men and Dean of Women reported to the Dean of Students for several years until these positions were phased out.
