Biographical / Historical

Gilbert L. Temple came to Iowa sometime in the mid-1870s, and by the early 1880s went into business for himself as a member of the firm of Santee & Temple. This firm was one of the most popular in their line in the city and received liberal patronage. In 1884 Mr. Temple purchased his partner's interest and then conducted the business alone. He was not only the leading photographer of Clinton, but was thought of as doing the finest work in this part of the country, and had a successful business.
