Biographical / Historical

Eva C. Hooper grew up on a farm in Palmyra, Wisconsin. Education was important to the family. At least four of the six siblings, Inez, George, Eva and Gladys went to Lawrence College, as well as her uncle T.D. Williams (class of 1899). Eva's future husband, George Earl Watson, was also a Lawrence graduate. He served as Wisconsin Superintendent of Public Instruction from 1949 through 1961.
