Biographical or Historical Information

Thomas Dietrich (1912-1998) was artist in residence at Lawrence University from 1944 to 1974 and was well known in the region for his watercolors of Fox Valley landscapes. Margaret Rape Dietrich (1912-2000) graduated from Lawrence with a degree in art in 1936. She taught children's art classes in the Appleton area for a number of years and was the director of art education at the Bergstrom Museum in Neenah from 1966 to 1974. Thomas and Margaret married in 1941.

Method of Acquisition

Thomas Dietrich materials, excluding articles and biographical information, were included in Accession 2018-02, acquired February 8, 2018. All other materials collected by the Archives over time, prior to July 2005.

Related Materials

A selection of artworks by both Thomas and Margaret are held in the permanent collection of the Wriston Art Galleries.
