This collection contains materials documenting the tenure of Charles M. Brooks, Jr. as professor of art and architecture at Lawrence University from 1946 to 1973. Some materials from Brooks' service in the U.S. Navy prior to his appointment at Lawrence are also included. Biographical or Historical Information

Charles M. Brooks, Jr. (1908-1978) received a master of fine arts degree in architecture from Yale University in 1930. He taught at Texas A&M and Scripps College before serving in the U.S. Navy during World War II. In 1946, he joined the faculty at Lawrence College. He retired in 1973 as the Myra Goodwin Plantz Professor of Art and Architecture.

Method of Acquisition

Most materials were included in Accession 2018-02, acquired February 8, 2018. Articles and biographical information and photographs collected by the Archives over time, prior to July 2005. "Art building" file transferred from Wriston Art Center Collection, December 2018.
