Series
The Warren Beck Collection contains materials related to Professor Warren Beck, dating from 1928 to 2000. Materials include letters, memoranda, articles, press releases, newspaper clippings, published works, speeches, teaching materials, and photographs. The materials mainly concern Beck's time teaching at Lawrence and his career as a writer. Additional material donated by Professor Brian K. Beck, a family member of Warren Beck, concerns the "Baldinger affair" (so named by the donor) which took place in 1944. The affair consisted of a debate within and between Lawrence faculty, administration, and the board of trustees about the dismissmal of faculty member Wallace Baldinger, in which Beck was a vocal participant.
