The correspondence in this series is arranged chronologically and by subject. Correspondence includes letters from Plantz welcoming new students to Lawrence and letters to parents of new students describing the college and its facilities. Requests from parents and new students for rooms are also included. Correspondence between Plantz and students involves students paying tuition and room and board fees, not taking their meals in the dining room as required, not attending class, and Plantz writing to students when they had been accepted to Lawrence. The relationship between Plantz and Lawrence students was one of direct communication. Letters regarding potential faculty and staff at Lawrence as well as recommendations for employees at other schools were also exchanged with Plantz. Requests for copies of the college catalog also were sent to Plantz.
