Summary Note
Jason Downer (1813-1883) was a Wisconsin Supreme Court justice from 1864 to 1867. He served as president of the Wisconsin Female College (Fox Lake, Wis.) Board of Trustees from 1866-1871 and 1874-1878. In recognition of his $65,000 bequest to the institution, Wisconsin Female College was renamed Downer College.
