The Library Song, part A
Digital Record
Identifier: ARC2015-177
Dates
- circa 1950-1964
Summary Note
Description provided by donor, Marjory Irvin: "This little canon was composed by Jo Smith, secretary to the Milwaukee-Downer College dean from about 1950 on. It came into being because the library staff was so intensely frustrated by all the non-librarian activities which intruded on their real mission at the college that at one point they were approaching the brink of explosion. Jo, sensitive to their plight, created this song to offer sympathies and to soothe their ruffled psyches…And the library staff did seem to feel better about their lot after a few of us (who could sing) gathered and sang this song with appropriate feeling."
