This collection contains academic papers written by Helen Proctor as an undergraduate at Lawrence University, class of 1929; personal correspondence during her time as an undergraduate and as an administrative assistant; a personal day planner/ address book; a book titled The Secretary's Handbook: A Manual of Correct Usage; her Honorary Master of Arts degree from Lawrence University; and newspaper clippings and photographs. Proctor served as an administrative assistant/secretary to to six Lawrence University presidents: Thomas Barrows, Henry Wriston, Nathan Pusey, Douglas Knight, Curtis Tarr, and Thomas Smith. She retired in 1972.
