This collection contains records of Steve Hirby's tenure as Director of Administrative Information Management and Chief Information Officer at Lawrence University. Materials primarily document the selection and implementation of the Banner system, 1998-2005. Other subjects documented include the Task Force on Computing and Technology, the Buzzeo Incorporated Project, and the Simplex review. Records of the WLFM Webcasting Working Group from 2000 are also included. Materials are in both paper and digital format.

Biographical or Historical Information

Steve Hirby was Director of Administrative Information Management from 2000 to 2004. From 2004 until his retirement in 2008, he served as Lawrence University's first and only Chief Information Officer. The position entailed leadership and management responsibility for computer services, instructional technology, and Web development.

Method of Acquisition

Accession 2008-03 (paper files) transferred to the Archives by Steve Hirby, December 2007-January 2008. Accession 2012-048 (digital files) transferred from campus_share\staff\archives\CIO in July, 2012.

Separated Materials

One folder of material documenting/dating from Steve Hirby's tenure as Director of Development was removed and filed with Development Office Records. Hirby's remarks from Ottilia Buerger's memorial service were filed with the Ottilia Buerger Papers.
