Collection: Lewis M. Alexander Papers | Lawrence University Archives

This collection contains materials documenting Lewis M. Alexander's service on the Lawrence University Board of Trustees, 1894 to 1931. The bulk of the collection contains correspondence with President Wriston regarding the building of the Alexander Gymnasium. Other materials document the building of Peabody Hall (the Conservatory of Music) and the Schneller-Whiting Gate. The collection also includes newspaper clippings regarding Alexander's death and the October 1934 issue of Lawrence Alumnus that was dedicated to Alexander.
