Biographical or Historical Information

The Placement Office served the function of helping Lawrence students find employment beginning in the late 1940s. In 1970 its name changed to the Office of Career Planning and Placement, and in 1974, it became the Career Center. The Career Center was housed at various times in Sampson House, Wilson House, and Raymond House before it moved to the southeast wing of the Seeley G. Mudd Library in 1992. The Office of Career Services was officially established with the appointment of Mary Meany ’83 as Dean of Career Services in 2011. The office moved to the Hurvis Center (Chapman Hall) in 2013.
