Scope and Contents This collection includes personal papers of Alice Nash White, Lawrence University class of 1901, and her husband Kirby B. White, ex-class of 1897 and trustee from 1927 until his death in 1933. The bulk of the collection consists of correspondence between Henry Wriston and Mr. White dating from his years on the Board, with particular emphasis on the college's response to financial difficulties during the Great Depression. Also included is a photocopy of Mr. White's diary dating from 1917 to 1932.

Scope and Contents In this diary, White records his reactions and thoughts on the war in Europe, beginning shortly before America's entry into the war and lasting through the armistice. In addition to reporting the news, he discusses his work as a member of the American Seed Trade Association War Committee, which involved travel from his home in Michigan to New York, Washington, D.C., and California. The diary also includes shorter entries in 1921 and again in 1932.
