Sophia Emeline Walker attended Lawrence in 1858 but did not graduate. She became an editor and journalist in Wisconsin, Utah, California, and New York, writing under the name "Lisle Lester." Materials in this collection are primarily copies of articles she wrote, including a microfilm reel, and materials used in the research of her life by Ruth S. Worthing and Fay Kaynor.

This collection contains reproductions of materials collected by Theodore R. Crane while researching the life and work of Henry Merritt Wriston in the 1960s. The bulk of the materials are copies of speeches and publications by Wriston dating from his years as president of Lawrence College, 1925 to 1937. Also included are correspondence and summaries of interviews with Lawrence staff and faculty conducted by Crane from 1963 to 1966.
