Presidents' Correspondence

Scope and Contents This collection consists of the incoming and outgoing correspondence of presidents of Lawrence University with various constituencies, 1923 to 2008. The bulk of the collection consists of correspondence with alumni, Greek organizations on campus, the Institute of Paper Chemistry, and trustees.

Residence Halls Collection

Scope and Contents This collection is comprised of materials documenting the history of Lawrence University's residence halls. Ormsby Hall was the first dorm built at Lawrence in 1889, and Hiett Hall is the most current dorm and was built in 2003. Materials in the collection include articles, building plans, correspondence, photographs, and information regarding construction and renovations.

Richard Harrison Collection

Scope and Contents This collection documents the tenure of Richard Harrison as Dean of the Faculty and Professor of History at Lawrence from 1992 until his death in 1997. Materials primarily include documentation of his appointment, memorial service, and the research fund and symposium established in his honor. A Lunch at Lawrence address written by Harrison and photographs are also included.

Scope and Contents This collection consists of records of the Select Committee on Planning dating from 1968 to 1970. President Curtis Tarr appointed the committee in 1968 and charged it with investigating the whole structure of the university and making recommendations for change to the faculty.
