The collection contains materials documenting the search for a president from 1969 to 2004, during which time Presidents Thomas Smith, Richard Warch, and Jill Beck were appointed. Materials include correspondence between the search committee and nominated candidates for the position, as well as letters from colleges across the country providing suggestions for the new president. Interview schedules and resumes of candidates are also included.

Ormsby Hall was the first dorm built at Lawrence in 1889, and Hiett Hall is the most current dorm and was built in 2003.
