The Lawrentian Records

Scope and Contents This collection consists primarily of photographs taken by staff of The Lawrentian for inclusion in articles, dating from 1995 to 2004. Subjects depicted include Conservatory, theatre, and athletic events, as well as other extracurricular activities. Two folders of administrative materials, including Board of Control minutes and correspondence, are included. 2022 and 2023 Lawrentian staff handbooks are also included.

Theodore Crane Collection on Henry Merritt Wriston

Scope and Contents This collection contains reproductions of materials collected by Theodore R. Crane while researching the life and work of Henry Merritt Wriston in the 1960s. The bulk of the materials are copies of speeches and publications by Wriston dating from his years as president of Lawrence College, 1925 to 1937. Also included are correspondence and summaries of interviews with Lawrence staff and faculty conducted by Crane from 1963 to 1966.

Thomas N. Barrows Presidential Papers

Scope and Contents This collection is composed of the papers of Thomas N. Barrows, Dean of Lawrence College from 1935 to 1937 and President from 1937 to 1943. The bulk of the collection is correspondence sent and received dating from his tenure as President. Subjects discussed include the construction of the fraternity quadrangle and the administration of the college during the outbreak and early years of World War II. The collection also includes speeches, publications, and photographs.

Scope and Contents This collection is composed of the papers of Thomas S. Smith, President of Lawrence University from 1969 to 1979. The collection primarily documents Smith's presidency from his selection through his departure.
